I wonder if anyone is familiar with Brick House Security's "Stealth iBot Computer Spy."
LINK:   http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/pc-computer-spy.html

Can it really go undetected, even to the fairly knowledgeable?  Can Norton or Kaspersky find it?  Can it potentially cause problems on the computer down the road?  How can it hide from the "Add and Remove Programs" list?

Another program I used years ago worked great, but I was unable to uninstall it when I lost the password.  This new program downloads in 5 seconds, records up to 10,000 screen shots, every key stroke, etc.  TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?  Would it slow down the computer if it was left unchecked for too long, say 3 weeks?

If it IS all that, I have suspected that someone may have, installed a similar program on my laptop.  There was an unknown program with a "bot" type extension that I removed when I did a system restore recently.  Since then,I have tried to restore my computer back to that time, to see what the program was, but I could only restore back to the previous day!  Tried numerous times.

Any ideas on how I can check to see if my suspicions are correct?  What happens when the anti-virus programs catch up to it?  Am I cold busted or can there be some plausible explanation?  Is it required to have some identifying info on programs purchased?

Any help appreciated.

yes, it can go undetected. even the most secure programs cannot ensure safety when it comes to certain spyware. i know on some haq forums where people made keyloggers that are FUD to the above security software you mentioned. i dont know 'how', but they find some round about way. its all in the 'coding'. norton or kaspersky would have to have it on its list of blockable spyware for it to catch it. but not all security software can detect bots.

As far as being detected anything is possible....i agree with justy...

But.....according to this link...Once you have unplugged this tool from the computers, it can’t be detected by anyone.

Have any of your programs detected anything?

I wonder if HJT will detect it...

How can it hide from the "Add and Remove Programs" list?

Check this link..How to hide an entry in the Add/Remove Programs applet?

NOTE:exercise caution when dealing with the registry...
