Shell Employee Directory Leaked, Allegedly By Activist Workers
Oil company acknowledges leak, but says it isn't sure current employees did the deed:

[ The names and phone numbers of more than 170,000 employees and contractors at Royal Dutch Shell have been emailed to environmental and human rights campaign groups, the oil company acknowledged today.

OK, so Shell acknowledges that the list of 170,000+ employee names and phone numbers is genuine, and that it was emailed to numerous activist groups that dislike the company and could have some members who dislike the employees as well as the CEOs... yet they deny any security risk because the list didn't contain home addresses?? WTF??? If I were one of their employees, I'd certainly disagree. A name and phone number can easily yield an address! It doesn't matter whether the employee(s) responsible are current or former ones, Shell is ultimately responsible for safeguarding employee info and now that this breach has occurred, they're trying to minimize it. All those employees are now at risk for anything from harrassment to identity theft to even possible violence. They should all band together and demand hazard pay! Tongue
