this is prolly a dumb question, but my mom has a wireless router coming from the modem, and everytime i have to use it, its an unsecured connection selected from a dozen secure neighbors weps..... everyone i know has always had there network secure since they got it and i have no idea how to make it secure, she wont let me call her ISP or even ask them about a wep.... i always feel so unsafe when i use it, its not complicated to do is it? make it secure? WEP or password protected?

sorry i gotta keep modifying.....

google the router login ip addy, it's probably using the standard login info. Once you get into the routers setup pages, you can set the security and don't go with wep-it's easy to sniff and haq. Use wpa or wpa2 if u can.

Alternatively if she wont let you do that. Then get urself a usbstick and set up a ssh tunnel with portable apps. Only use ur stick when online with her pc. If you're not familiar with that, the old Hamachi is very easy to set up and I "think" there was a portable version made.
