Interesting! Good article!
I know my brother and his friends got in trouble a few yrs back w/his high school because of a picture that showed up on Myspace or Facebook or some site that showed them with liquor bottles in their hands. The picture got into the wrong hands, and it was reported t administration. All of the students in the picture were called down for "questioning." Nothing came out of it, but it's scary none-the-less. Be careful!

Hi, I just read this article and its very helpful. I have a question though. For example, I have a friend on my page and I dont want certain other friends seeing her, so i have used the who can see my friends feature, but when this person tags me in a note it shows on my wall with her pic and a link to her profile which kinda defeats the whole purpose of who can see my friends feature. Am I doing something wrong here or is there a way around this? I think what maybe the problem is that this girl has her settings set to the friends of friends can see my information, and that sucks. Thanks for any help you can give...

Hi, you can go into the security settings and then into applications to control what people can see on your profile. hope this helps!

was the note already posted? if it was already there, it will stay unless you delete it, but moving forward it should work.

Actually, not true. Even if the note was already there, if you change your settings, they can't view a note OF you, unless they're in your group. Tested this on my fake a couple times, just to make sure (with my real and my fake, as in logged in using the fake to see if it eliminated that problem). However, if they tagged you, you are s.o.l. Unless something has changed in the past day, the settings are seemingly a little stronger right now in terms of privacy.

ooh ok.. so what did i do wrong? This friend (who I dont want to be seen by this other person) tagged me in a note so it says "NAME OF FRIEND TAGGED MY NAME" in a note, so this other person can see the persons name and the notes... this is driving me crazy...help
ALSO, this whole thing totally defeats the purpose of "who can see my friends", which I find silly, hasn't FB noticed this? Shouldn't it be that if I set who can see my friends to a specific group that they should never be allowed see anything on my friends?

it's a two-fold fix: first, write some note, then, at the bottom, it says 'who can see this'. There's an option to customize. Add whomever you don't want to see the notes you'll write and it will work for EVERY note written ex post factos. Then, go into applications, edit settings. You'll have to add the person or persons to the settings with a customized portion, as well. That way, they can't see what notes you're tagged in (problem is, if they're friends with the other person, you'll be s.o.l., as I stated earlier). But, this does work after the fact. Same goes for photos, and so on.
As for friend lists, you can set up a limited profile and customize it that way. I'll have to tinker with the new facebook on how to make that list, as the old new facebook was simple, just not as customizable. I hope I'm making sense. Remember, you have to customize everything with the way facebook is set up now.

ok, it's now just 'edit', then it takes you to your application settings (ok, this new facebook is starting to drive me nuts; I can't find anything anymore...). Then, edit settings on notes, click the profile tab, edit custom settings. That would do it. I have 6 people I don't want reading anything I write, one who started saying some pretty nasty things on a note; as I digress, it's worked and the people can't see anything, even if I'm tagged in a note).

ok this is giving me a headache. I'm fairly new with FB so please be patient with me. I have played around with it and I'm still not getting what I want. Basically when friend A tags me in notes I do not want friend B to see that I've been tagged by friend A, actually I dont want friend B seeing anything about friend A, I want it to be as if friend A does not even exist to friend B. Friend A and B are not friends, so I dont see why this is so difficult for me to figure out... i'm a little clueless, I'll admit. Any help is appreciated.. Thanks.

simplest thing I can think of is put friend B on the limited profile list. As i said, though, the only way to really do it is messing with the settings (which are ridiculously frustrating...so much easier when it was the OLD old facebook).

Yeah the settings are frustrating, wonderful if you can figure them out im sure..lol.. I already have friend B limited to what she can see, but when I go into view profile as and pick her, she can still see the notes that im tagged in... GRRRRRR!! I'll keep playing with it and get back with the results, hopefully some postive ones. thanks for your help
