Does anybody of you know how to bypass the confirmation email sent when we request to join a new school network?

Facebook does require a valid school email address in order to be added to the network. Any thoughts? Thx

I'd like to know that too. I want to add my alma mater to my list of networks, but I no longer have a valid email address with them.

Another related question, does anyone know if you can have more than 2 networks?? I think right now they allow one university and one location network, right?

@benja:

alumni assocations are your best friends in those regards.  If you have an alumnus e-mail addy, you can access the entire network, much like you were still in school somewhere.  Most are done (in the US) with .com addys, which may make it possible to spoof an e-mail or trick the facebook server to believe you are an alumnus from the school.  Only ways I know of right now.

@CornellWeasel:

yes, you can join more than one network, but only one regional network.  I'm, personally, a member of 4 networks, 3 of them school/ university networks, one regional.  Some work networks (i.e. US Congress) are also on facebook, which create yet another type of network.

i tried to add a school network but i have no email so i looked online at the schools events and i found some random email addy ( administrator addy) and i got so happy cuz i thought thats all i had to do, untill it said it had to be confirmed. I quickly cancelled it since i figured it would get denied.

It got me thinking maybe there is some email addy that could be used where it's "read" but not by anyone
maybe then FB's system will accept it as a valid email and your in that school network...does that make any sense?

the easiest way to get into a school network is just donate to the alumni associations (even $5 will get you an e-mail, depending upon the association).  The only problem with the rationale is there is a link provided by facebook to determine the validity of an e-mail; granted, there might be a way to alter the link, as facebook provides the link with the 'network' address, as well as your 'new' id number (which is based off the network)...if, by chance, you can figure out the last person to sign up, you could, in theory, spoof the link to let them believe you're part of the network.

I don't think that's going to work as the confirmation usually requires you clicking a link contained in the email - not just the mail being read. Why not search the schools site for the online area for alumni. A little posing might enable you to get an email address as an alumnus if the school doesn't ask for too much information that can't be faked.

i did some looking around last night on this, partly because i needed to renew my alumni status at my alma mater anyhow.  yes, you have to click a link in the email that FB sends to the 'school email' address you give them.

I have found that many schools will let you join their alumni associations even if you were not a student.  SEems like most schools will only give you an actual student email if you are actually a student.

What about registering a cheap domain similar to the school's extension for student email?  could you replace a .com with a .org or .net and see if that works?

I'm still green in the email spoofing category so I'm just throwing out ideas.  Anyone knowledgeable wanna chew on these?

Thanks

alumni e-mails let you view the student pages, too, as they are in the same 'network'...kind of a cheap alternative to spoofing.  I know the link is specific for the e-mail, but it still has me curious if there's a way to trick the system...time to procrastinate some...
