This is shady shit. If you upload your art, pics, videos, anything...its theirs. & they can make a dime off of it if they want too. They can sell it to other companies, site etc:

yes, but, that makes the contract voidable, as most of us have been on there prior to this change.  Legally, any alteration to a contract not agreed upon by both parties makes a contract void and/or voidable.  Therefore, if they try and sell my prince looking voodoo doll image to any advertiser, I'm suing them for breach of contract to me  Tongue

I'd be willing to bet the FB TOS has some loophole stating 'you also agree to anything we change now or in the future'.  that is typical standard TOS language....but man that is pretty invasive of them to do.  Wonder why they want those rights?  I'd think more people will post less content or look elsewhere for social websites that don't need to be 'big brother'

There's an easy way to get around the 'you agree to blah blah blah and any alteration we make in the future' while still using the service: basically, since no contract was signed and anyone can use your likeness, you are not legally bound by any contractual agreement they deem to place without a valid way of 'signing'.  They can ask 'do you agree' all they want, but, regardless, but having no true way to validate your identity, they can't legally bind you to the 'contract'...so, again, they try to use my prince voodoo doll, they be goin down!!!

nice thought jason. so damn true too. i didnt even think about the "signing" part, bc really all we are doing is "checking" a box. i wonder what the legalities are though?  meaning, if there are any pending lawsuits etc. hmmmm...

Well, here's my 2 cents! Steel my shit and I'm comin for your ass! I'll be damn if my drunk ass gets posted on a billboard somewhere in China talkin' about "this is your brain, this is your brain on drugs!"

But you make a good point. Why open such a famous site and run the risk of a major loss. But I heard today that it was the actual creator of Facebook that spilled the beans. apparently he left because he did not agree with the TOS anymore. Guess he had turned over his rights by then. But at least he was honest in telling everyone. Now it is up to us what we choose to post from now on.(wish i wouldve know tht before i took that naked bootie shot) shit,  did i say that out loud? Shocked

This is on my homepage on FB this morning....

TERMS OF SERVICE UPDATE

Over the past few days, we have received a lot of feedback about the new terms we posted two weeks ago. Because of this response, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised. For more information, visit the Facebook Blog.

If you want to share your thoughts on what should be in the new terms, check out our group Facebook Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.
