So I just opened a new account and it seems you can no longer join a city network.... anyone know what's up with this?

Facebook went to a 'global' network, similar to myspace.

Ugh, so if you're already in a network you're good to stay there, but if not... only schools and companies, boo!

When you say "global" network, do you mean that more information will be accessible since all Facebook users are under one blanket network?

Since I'm here, you know how Myspace's search feature makes it possible to search a person by city, state, male/female, etc? Well I'm fairly new to Facebook, only had it about 3 months, but when I try to search the same way, it will only allow me to search by a city that has a network. If I read this thread right, there are no longer city networks?

Anyway, my question is...is there anyway to do a search to narrow people down? Everytime I search for someone, I have hundreds of results, and it's really annoying to have to go through every single one of them, and even more frustrating when the profiles don't show a photo, and I have no way of knowing if that could be the person I'm searching for or not...thanks!

@s2s, they are trying to do away with city networks...doesn't mean info is any 'less' secure, just means they couldn't keep up with the influx of users from cities not listed.  However, if in a city network, um, DO NOT LEAVE it.  Will make it safer, almost like a college or work network.

@lgamez, when searching for someone (I dealt with this this morning, actually), click 'people' in the search results.  From there, they provide filters.
