Out of curiosity. What do you all think is more annoying and makes haters even more jealous (come back for more). Keeping your profile on private, or making it public to see your pics/comments? If so why or why not?

I dont think there is a definate answer to this but I see what you are asking.

Man it all depends on what type of personality the viewer has. If they are jealous then seeing your comments and stuff would probably make them jealous....if some dude was commenting my woman then hell yeah Im gonna be pissed and jealous....Thats just me though.  If they are impulsive then yeah you are probably driving them crazy with a private profile..but that is what we have she-geeks for so we can use the codes on their so-called profile barrier

Personally - I think it's when it's public. They can see everything they want to see, and it fuels their compulsion to constantly watch it.

the reason i ask is because i have two stalkers who constantly check my profile. they're my ex's wives mind you. and just recently i put my profile on private because they were getting out of hand! just how out of hand you may ask? Well put it this way..

i just recently got married, so stalker number 1 got inspired and decided to renew her vows. then she decided to buy the same exact car as i have. make, model, and color too!! then my family and i went on a vacation recently and what does stalker do? she goes on vacation right after to the same place we went to! and now she brags about her vacation on her page. what a loser!! and this puts the icing on the cake...she copies the clothes that i wear! she even made her daughter do the same poses that i had my daughter do in our pics.. GRRR!! they say imitation's the best form of flattery But these jealous stalkers are NUTS!!

I want to keep my profile on public, but I hate it when people jock other people's ideas. It downright sucks!

i had one definite stalker and two haters who were both borderline stalker (they "hated" me, yet showed up every day on my myspace tracker and once i added them to my fake acocunt i realized they had been stealing graphics from my page and some of my music!). i kept my page on PUBLIC for months so that my haters could check up on me, could see how great i was doing, to basically see and be reminded that i am better than them 

however, my first stalker went over the top...i finally got her to add a fake page and i realized she was basically trying to be my clone. she was not a hater, she genuinely stalked me and looked up to me in a severely unhealthy way. she copy & pasted EVERYTHING from my page---from my about me to my interests to my books and music----and put it on her profile. so, i blocked her account. her IP still showed up on my tracker, so she had been creating alternate accounts to view my profile. ugh. so, eventually, i decided the best way to go would be to just put my page on private :|

I actually have 2 pages. One bogus page (for my stalkers) which is public. and 1 legit page (for my friends) which is private. The bogus page was actually my first page but when I started to get stalked, I duplicated everything, contacted my friends and created the new page. I left the bogus page to "entertain" my stalkers. Every few days  I will log in and change the date or every few weeks I will change the images on my home page.   Also, just to set their curiousity... I added a few  pics but made them viewable to me only, I also hid the comments and friends list (even though I have none). I also hid all the details, city, age. Basically, all you see on bogus page is a pic of me, a headline, a few images in the about me section and that's it. Looks 100% legit. So here we are 4 months after it started, and she still gets on there...lmao. Just remember that even if you put your page to private there are ways to get around certain things (thanks to the wonderful crew @ she-geeks ). It was when I first started using the site and seeing all that could be done that I decided to just create a new page for friends only (not using my real name or city or anything) so that I was assured they wouldnt find me. Because if they ever find your friends....they find you. If any of your friends have a public profile (which mine do) your stalker can constantly go to their pages and get info based of of pics that include your or comments that have been left.

Just a fyi: There is really no way to stop someone from seeing your page. If you block them, that only stops them from contacting you with msgs, etc   but they can still see your public page-even without an account.

If you tried to block their computer...they can easily go to another computer or use a proxy, etc.

wow! i guess i'm not the only one with fleas on my back. lmao! thanks for the great tips! but it sounds like these nutcases are here to stay!!  i guess keeping my page on private is the best solution. I'll probably just tease them once in a while and make it public every so often. what they don't know won't kill 'em..so i guess i "should" shove it in their faces!! bwaahahahaha!! j/k! thanks for sharing your stories guys. it's fun reading them. i hope people post more of their stories. it's quite entertaining! you all are thee absolute BEST!!!!

One downfall to consider when setting your profile to private is that if they are really determined to see it..they will start googling for the codes to see private profiles..then they also learn about trackers and how to block them.

Good point patrick - desperate people take desperate measures - which could lead them here! Although thanks to supposed "idiot experts" on other sites-"there's no way to see a private profile!" Hopefully all your stalkers will keep believing that!!!

Yep, unfortunately, the nutcases get a little more determined; mine, well, what got her to stop (although, she's the one who went to that freeprofileviewer page, as, while it is a phishing site, it does take you to the person's page you request...kind of weird, honestly) initially was putting a giant picture of Mel Brooks instead of my 'private profile' page.  I got to deal with the girl e-mailing someone I was dating, claiming that she was coming between us and, while I may have a 'wandering eye', we were working things out (HAH); she also e-mailed some other girls I was merely friends with, creeped them out, and, well, yeah, it was interesting.  So, now, while I'd love to get revenge, she really isn't worth it and, I use this to attempt to secure my profile as well as I can (impossible on myspace, even if deleted).  That'd be my story, as it sucks to be a guy with a female stalker (not as cool as I would have liked it to be), as I swear she's joined one of these sites to find out how to view private profiles, avoid detection (she would avoid 2 of the 3 trackers if she visited from her work, as they use a proxy; mvtracker would catch it, though).

I use this to attempt to secure my profile as well as I can (impossible on myspace, even if deleted). 

That reminds me of an important tip..

..When u delete a profile off of myspace..be sure to delete ALL data off of the profile.
Example--at one time there was a working code that allowed you to see pictures from deleted profiles.
Also, delete the comments you send to people before you delete your profile because some codes have revealed them as well.

At some point in the future, as technology advances, there will probably be a way to retrieve deleted profiles and you dont want a future employer (job interviewer) stumbling across pics of your 'younger' party days   Last year, I found an article that explains this in further detail..I will post it if I find it again.
