I haven't seen this before, but that doesn't mean it's new, haha.  Anyway, I saw it in one of the codes on my target's page source, and then typed www.myspace.com/openid in the address bar and it brought up an actual myspace account...not really sure what it does?  or if it's just some person?  or why it'd be in my target's page source since my target is not on the friend list or anything...anyone know?

hmmm...are you sure they arent on the friends list? maybe its an update alert on your friends page?  i googled the URL & some people have that added onto their profile & its called "nerd patrol"...thats what the account said. i believe its just a group that people have added to their profile & your target may have the alert showing about someone else's proile....

Myspace participates in the openID project-which allows people to log into many different participating openID sites using the same login information. Perhaps your target participates in the program and that is why it's referenced in their page source?

yeah, I guess I'm just not sure.  Justy- I'm positive OpenId and my target are not "friends" OpenID only has 17 friends on myspace and she is not one of those 17.  Also, her page is private, so I don't know if that might mean anything.  Could this be used as some form of tracking perhaps?  I have no clue really how this whole thing works, but i thought it was interesting.

also, I don't know if this information is useful at all...but this is how it shows up on her page source: </title><meta name="keywords" content="friends networking sharing photos finding friends blogs journals blogging journaling bands music rate pics join groups forums classifieds online social networking" /><meta name="searchMonkey-profileType" content="StandardUser"><link rel="openid2.provider" href="https://api.myspace.com/openid" though that stuff is normal style and normal color, just changed here to make it standout (probably obvious, buuut just in case)

Yes that is the openID project I described above. Myspace is a provider. This is probably appearing on everyone profile now.
