That would explain why people are reporting being able to see whole profiles from the mobile site! Let's hope a lot of people don't notice this setting!

Yeah I noticed that a few days ago and my modules are all set to me only or friends only and the account settings are all set that way including the mobile and yet it is still viewable through the mobile.  I have redid all the settings like 10 times and yet still viewable.  I got desperate and emailed the myspace customer service.   The first response I got a reply of the directions, which where no help since everything is already set that way and the second response was this I got today:

Hello,
Thank you for contacting us regarding this issue.  The profile settings through MySpace mobile (m.myspace.com) are separate from the standard login pages viewed through www.myspace.com.  When you view your profile using the standard interface, logging in from a computer, then you will see the individualized privacy settings you have set up on your account.  Users logging in through MySpace Mobile will view the site and profiles differently, and the privacy settings will apply differently.  We will continue to work on these features in the future and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you,
MySpace.com
Customer Care

Yeah that was a lot of help, so anyway I switched back to 1.0 for the time being since there are apparently some bugs.

hhhhmmm, my mobile setting don't have any options to be "unprivate" on mobile. I wonder if the settings are different for those of you using 2.0. Can you paste a screenie of what yours look like? Or email to me?

Yeah that option is only appears on the 2.0.  I have switched back to 1.0 for now or I would send it to you myself cause I have spent the last 5 days trying to get mine straightened up.  I started getting all kinds of random friend requests and msgs from people I don't know.  It made me check my settings and I noticed that new setting.   I checked the mobile and it was viewable.  I can't get it to not be.  It is really annoying me.

The setting can definitely be different on mobile and PC and people won't have a clue.  I have a target where I can see there friends (their friends headlines and mood by each one) and their comments on the mobile login, but I can see any of this on the PC.  I use this to watch the head lines and mood of a friend of theirs.  That way I never get tracked.  I don’t think this person has a clue that this information can be looked at.

Has anyone checked into the site www.spokeo.com? It says that it will pull up any social networking site that someone/anyone is affiliated with as long as you have info such as e.g. name@domain.com, www.myspace.com/name or any RSS feed. When you login (using your email address and password) it will give you 5 freebees (mine included myself)..and you're able to see pictures on whatever sites they use. One of the email addresses on there that I was able to view is an old friend of mine (not a friend on myspace) whose myspace account is public, but it showed pictures that are either on a private album (which would explain why I can't see them when on her profile) or they are from other social networking sites that she is using.  .....I know there are codes to view private albums on a public profile, but this just seemed really interesting to me and was wondering if it were something worth looking into...?

also, beware that when you enter email addresses of targets on sites like spokeo, the site might send an email to your target letting him/her know someone searched for him/her.

Well, I'm still skeptical of the actual catch here, but I know for a fact it didn't send a notification email to anyone that I searched for. I did a practice run with it before I looked for an actual target. I searched for myself, my sister, and my best friend. I know their passwords to their email accounts..checked it out this morning, and nothing. It did show a hit on their myspace page....as far as any other social network I have no Idea.
